Why He Wrote Waggit's Tale

In the book, "Waggit's Tale" by Peter Howe, an average dog, Waggit, is suddenly abandoned by his owner at the park. He doesn't realize what had happened to him, until a stray dog, Tazar, finds him and brings Waggit back to his home under a tunnel. Waggit then lives his life as stray in the park, hunting and scavenging for food to help keep him and the rest of the team alive, when he learns that his owner is never coming back for him. Waggit and his new friends go on new adventures and try to live life in the park without being captured by park rangers or animal control, Ruzuelas. I think the author wrote this book because it was a true story. In his acknowledgements he mentions how he has several dogs, which he got from animal shelters or the pound. He also said that his dogs brought more fun to his life, and introduced him to the exciting life of a dog. This relates to many of the events that occur to Waggit and the other dogs in the book. Most authors have reason behind why they decide to write a book on a certain topic.
