In the book, "The Gift" by James Patterson, Byron, a past enemy of Whit who is the main character along with his sister Wisty, is ordered by The One Who Is The One, the leader of the New Order which is the new government, to eliminate the children of the prophecy, Whit and Wisty. He was part of the Resistance, a group against the New Order, until he was captured by New Order soldiers and turned on to their side, because his love, Wisty, continues to reject him. At one point, he confronts the two with his pack of man-beasts and attacks them, regardless of their past friendship. If it was me in that situation, I would have pretended that I was on the enemy's side to infiltrate their headqurter and gain The One Who Is The One's trust. It would have probably gotten me executed, but the New Order banned everything that makes us individuals and what is unusual and expresses our feelings. I think that is wrong becuase then everything is the same boring thing all the time and there is no change. Unlike me, Byron still goes forth with trying to eliminate Wisty and Whit so he won't be killed by the The One Who Is The One. This shows me that everyone does things for different reasons and can change completely just because it is convenient for themselves.
